<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector ferrule and an optical fiber which bring low cost and improved reliability by eliminating a ferrule inserting hole that requires precision machining and adhesive fixation that causes failure. <P>SOLUTION: The ferrule is composed of a material that is directly weldable by fusion to the optical fiber, and has an optical waveguide with a core-clad structure formed on its inside. The optical waveguide is formed, for example, by irradiating a laser beam converging to the inside of the ferrule and relatively moving the converged point inside the ferrule. In the end part of the ferrule, there are provided a projection, a recess or a V-groove projection for the purpose of positioning and welding the optical fiber, so that the optical fiber is directly welded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
