PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device to apply access restriction with respect to an information processing system, especially a storage device connected to a network so that a logical disk cannot be accessed from a host of other types. SOLUTION: A storage device is equipped with: a disk interface (8) which takes charge of an interface with a disk unit (9); a host interface (5) which performs communication connection via hosts (1, 2) which perform access to a logical disk by two or more kinds of protocols respectively and a network (3); a control memory (7) which stores information on which protocol out of two or more kinds of protocols is permitted to use to access to the logical disk; and a control means (6) which discriminates the protocol used to access when the access request to the logical disk is received via the network from the host, and determines permission or non-permission of the access to the logical disk according to the protocol with reference to the control memory. As a result of determination, when the access is permitted, a normal access is made to the logical disk, and when the access is not permitted, a response that the access cannot be made is returned.
