PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance durability of a master carrier and to suppress a transfer defect at the time of magnetic transfer by preventing lack of a magnetic layer provided on the substrate of the master carrier for magnetic transfer. SOLUTION: A semi-intermediate layer 32 consisting of an oxide, a nitride and/or a carbide and an intermediate layer 33 consisting of at least one of Si, B, Al, Ti, Cr, V, Ni, Cu, Fe, Co, Gd, Sm, and Nd are provided from the side of the substrate 31 between the substrate 31 and the magnetic layer 34.
