<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat dissipation mechanism exhibiting good performance of dissipating heat to the outside through a simple arrangement, and to provide an ink jet printer employing that heat dissipation mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The heat dissipation mechanism 14 comprises a heating element 60 covered with an outer case 90 which is provided with an exhaust opening 94 in the rear surface 90e located oppositely to the side for discharging a printed matter 12.
