<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the speed irregularity of an image carrier caused by frictional sliding on a cleaning member, particularly at the time of forming an electrostatic latent image by an image forming apparatus in which a developing rotary unit is mounted and where developing switching operation is performed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 is equipped with the image carrier 3 on which the electrostatic latent image is formed, a latent image forming means 5 forming the latent image on the image carrier, a developing means 8 having a developing roller 6a performing development while abutting on the image carrier, a transfer means transferring a developed toner image on the image carrier 3 to a transfer body 12 and a cleaning means 7 removing residual toner after transfer while abutting on the image carrier, and is constituted so that the developing roller 6a is separated from the image carrier 3 so as to perform the developing switching operation by the developing means. Then, it is equipped with a toner supplying means for supplying the toner so that the toner exists on the image carrier 3 opposed to the blade of the cleaning means 7 at least at the time of starting to form the latent image by the forming means 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
