PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a main circuit can not be opened and closed at a given timing by a wrong operation of a contactor when noise is superimposed on a drive commanding signals of the contactor. SOLUTION: The circuit breaker is provided with a contactor 2 as a breaking part opening and closing a transmission line 1 as the main circuit to which alternating current power is transmitted, a breaker driving part 3 driving the contactor 2, a phase control part 6 outputting switch commanding signals for opening and closing the transmission line 1 at a given phase of a current or a voltage in the transmission line 1 by converting them into alternating current signals 11 with a fundamental period shorter than a time width within which the switch driving signals are output, and a frequency identification part 8 outputting the drive commanding signals for driving the contactor 2 to the breaker driving part 3 whenever it identifies the switch commanding signals by the difference between the frequency of the alternating current signals 11 and that of the noise superimposed on the alternating current signals 11.
