<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow simulation of rotation speed fluctuation at the time of misfiring of an internal combustion engine with a simple system construction and at fast processing speed. <P>SOLUTION: A simulated cylinder discriminant signal REF is made correspondent to each cylinder. When the cylinder corresponding to the simulated cylinder discriminant signal REF at that time is designated as misfiring, a target rotation speed Net for determining frequencies of the simulated cylinder discriminant signal REF and a simulated position signal POS is decreased in a stepped manner by a predetermined fluctuation widthΔNe.
