PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for adjusting a liquid crystal panel at high speed without impairing the high adjustment accuracy. SOLUTION: As to the positional adjustment of the liquid crystal panel for respective beams of color light in a liquid crystal projector constituted to separate the projected light from a light source 1 into the beams of color light of three primary colors by a plurality of dichroic mirrors for separation and to make respective liquid crystal panels 9, 10 and 11 for the color light to transmit the respective beams of color light through different optical paths respectively, then to combine the beams of the light via a dichroic prism 12 for synthesis, and to project the combined light through a projection lens 13, the method for adjusting and assembling the liquid crystal panel of the liquid crystal projector comprises acquiring the signals for controlling and detecting the positions of the liquid crystal panels 9, 10, and 11 for the respective beams of the color light and positioning and adjusting the respective color light liquid crystal panels in parallel on the basis of the signals.
