<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carboxylic acids that can continuously and stably perform the esterification reaction with high selectivity, initial activity and sufficient catalytic life enough to carry out the esterification reaction in a practical scale. <P>SOLUTION: In the presence of a catalyst (C) that comprises (c1) one or more kinds of heteropolyacids and/or (c2) one or more of their salts and is supported on an inorganic carrier (d), (A1) a hydroxy group-bearing compound that has one hydroxy group and (B) a carboxy group-bearing compound or (A) a hydroxy group-bearing compound and (B1) a carboxy group-bearing compound that has one carboxy group are allowed to react with each other in a liquid phase to produce a carboxylic ester. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
