PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile communication system which protects personal information even while a lost terminal is out of a service area, thus lessening such a problem as the leakage and the abuse of the personal information. SOLUTION: The mobile communication terminal 1 periodically sends a position register request to a home location register 6. When an own terminal locates out of a service area 200 of a base station 2, the position register request does not arrive at the home location register 6 and the own terminal no more receives the position register request, resulting in the timeout of all the position requests. The mobile communication terminal 1 compares the number of timeouts with the number of allowable continuous timeouts predetermined as a criterion of transition to a personal information protect mode and, if exceeding the allowable number of timeouts, automatically transits to the personal information protect mode to protect the personal information in the communication terminal 1.
