PURPOSE: A broad-band phase shifter is provided to obtain broad-band phase characteristics by attaching λ/8 open/short parallel stubs to a coupling line and both ends of a main transmission line. CONSTITUTION: A broad-band phase shifter comprises a first path circuit network, a second path circuit network, and a switching unit. The first path circuit network includes a reference standard transmission line having an input/output characteristic impedance Z0 and an electrical length &thgr;1. The second path circuit includes two symmetrical main transmission lines coupled at a center of the second path circuit, by a coupling line. Each of the main transmission lines has a characteristic impedance Zm and an electrical length &thgr;m. Open/short parallel stubs each having a characteristic impedance Zs and an electrical length &thgr;s, are connected to both ends of the main transmission line. The switching unit selects only one path from the first path circuit network and the second path circuit network.
