Pieces of bread are pre-heated so that they turn a light brown color, filling is applied and a susceptor is placed around the bread. A method for preparing a bread product in which the product is heated using microwaves prior to consumption comprises the following steps: (1) providing individual bread units; (2) providing a filling; (3) pre-heating the units using a conventional heating device until they turn a light brown color; (4) applying the filling between the units; and (5) placing a susceptor around the units.
