<p>A load transfer dowel for cast in place concrete slabs comprises corrugated sheet steel. A plastic sheath may be provided for one end of the dowel. In use the corrugated cross section of the dowel is in the same plane as the connection between the slabs. The sheath allows bidirectional relative movement of the slabs at the joint by allowing withdrawal of the dowel and by providing crush zones which allow for lateral movement of the dowel.</p> |
