<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can form images of good quality by using a process cartridge even when the process cartridge is stored over a long period of time after manufacture and consequently deformation occurs in an elastic roll or a brush roll, etc., inside the process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with the process cartridge which can be freely attached to and detached from an apparatus main body. A toner image corresponding to image information is formed on an image carrier contained in the process cartridge and transferred to a recording sheet to form a recorded image. The process cartridge is provided with a means of storing the manufacture date, and the apparatus main body is provided with a means to grasp the storage period of the process cartridge on the basis of the manufactured date read from the storing means.
