PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode for a solid electrolytic capacitor excellent in leak current characteristics and productivity, having low ESR characteristics. SOLUTION: The positive electrode for a solid electrolytic capacitor comprises a positive electrode of a valve action metal foil element and sintered bodies of the valve action metal formed on the top and bottom sides of the valve action metal foil element so that they include the metal foil element between them. The rate of the total thickness of the valve action metal foil and the sintered bodies of the center of the positive electrode to that of the end of the electrode is characterized as 1.05 or less.
