PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of stably fixing an optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical module 30a provided with optical elements 35, 36, an optical fiber 37 to be connected to the optical elements, a substrate 31 on which the optical elements and the optical fiber are mounted and a fixing groove 34 on which the optical fiber 37 is placed is formed, is provided with a guide groove 38a which is formed adjacent to the edge of the substrate so as to be orthogonal to the fixing groove 34 and guides an adhesive for fixing the optical fiber 37 to the fixing groove 34. The optical module is improved in fixation reliability of the optical fiber, being increased in a yield, and improved in performance of optical communication. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
