PROCESS FOR PREPARING LATEX POLYMER AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING TONER FOR ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE IMAGE DEVELOPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a latex polymer that inhibits an unreacted monomer from remaining and produces a latex polymer having a desired molecular weight and having a particle of a desired particle size in the case when a reaction apparatus is scaled-up. SOLUTION: The process for preparing the polymer latex comprises (i) a step of producing a polymer by adding a small amount of a monomer emulsion to an aqueous phase to initiate the polymerization and (ii) a step of producing the latex polymer by further adding an additional monomer emulsion to the composition produced in the step (i) to carry out the emulsion polymerization wherein, in the step (ii), a monomer is added at a flow rate of not less than 1 kg/min; the monomer emulsion is added at a rate of 0.25-1.00 wt% based on the total monomer emulsion per minute; and the monomer emulsion is discharged at a flow rate per unit area of an adding nozzle of 60-300 kg/(sec×m2).
