<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce malfunction of an automatic door due to influences of disturbance such as rain or snow. <P>SOLUTION: A starting area 16 to detect a passing body moving toward the door 12 is formed at a position away from the door 12. A micro-wave is used to detect the passing body in the starting area 16. A safety area 18 to detect the passing body being at a standstill near the door 12 is formed at a position along the door 12. An infrared ray is used to detect the passing body in the safety area 18. When the door 12 is in a closed position, i.e., the body has no chance of being caught by the door 12, a detection result in the safety area 18 is disabled. Then, for example, when the door 12 is in the closed position, and even if rain or snow is detected as a passing body by error in the safety area 18, the detected result is not reflected on the sensor output on the whole. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
