PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device which generates high luminous brightness and luminous efficiency and is longer in halflife, and a display unit and lighting equipment using the device. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device includes at least one of emitting layers which has a phosphorescent compound between a cathode and an anode wherein the device includes a polymer which has at least one of constitutional repeating units expressed as a general formula 1. "A" in the formula expresses an alkyl group, an aryl group or heterocyclic group, R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>express the alkyl groups, the aryl groups or cyano groups, independently, and Z<SB>1</SB>and Z<SB>2</SB>express atom groups each forming an aromatic ring or atom groups each forming an aromatic heterocycle, independently.
