PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device which generates high luminous brightness and is longer in half-life, and to provide a display unit using the device. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device including an emitting layer that has a phosphorescent compound includes a compound expressed as general formula (1). "A" in the formula indicates a specific substituent, R1, R2express hydrogen atoms or substituents, independently, and na expresses an integer of 0 to 4, nb expresses an integer of 0 to 3, n expresses an integer of 2 to 4 and L expresses a link group of an n-value, respectively.
