POSITION SENSOR USING AREA IMAGE SENSOR

A position sensor not needing attachment position adjustment of its imaging sections, easily maintained, not influenced by environment change such as temperature change, and realized by inexpensive constituent elements. Two imaging sections (7) each having an area image sensor (70) in which sensor elements are arrayed two-dimensionally and an imaging lens (71) are arranged at two positions on the sides of a detection surface (1). Selecting means (10) selects specific pixels corresponding to a specific sub-field of view such as one in a retroreflection frame (4) within the field of view imaged by the imaging sections (7) from the sensing elements. An image processing means (11) image-processes the specific image signal corresponding to the selected specific pixels and outputs the specified position coordinates specified by a specifying body (2).
