PURPOSE: A method for reproducing digital video streams with various lengths is provided to process digital video packet data stored in a storing medium according to a packet size unit requested by a decoder. CONSTITUTION: A unit of an upload packet to be stored in an upload FIFO unit is determined according to the type of a video stream to be produced from a storing medium(301). Packet data stored in the storing medium are read according to the determined packet size unit, and the read packet data are temporarily stored in the upload FIFO unit(302). It is discriminated whether the packet data stored in the upload FIFO unit include a time stamp(303). If the packet data stored in the upload FIFO unit do not include the time stamp, a bit rate of packet data transmitted from the upload FIFO unit to a decoder is controlled according to a decoding buffer state of the decoder(307-309).
