<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully demonstrate travel performance of a hybrid car by controlling a remaining capacity SOC of a battery in an appropriate state. <P>SOLUTION: The range of a motor travel mode can be updated so that a remaining capacity SOC of a battery for supplying power to a motor is an appropriate value, related to a motor travel mode discriminating map which is used to select either a motor travel mode for traveling only on the power from a motor or another travel mode for traveling on the power from an engine.
