PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive electric power steering device capable of preventing generation of tooth striking sound, and reducing labor for assembly work. SOLUTION: An opening part 35 free to open outside is formed in a gear housing 26 to store a decelerating mechanism 21, and this opening part 35 is closed by fitting a cover member 39 made of an elastic member on it from outside. The cover member 39is elastically deformed in a state of being fitted on the opening part 35 and elastically energizes a worm 24 to the side of a worm wheel 25 through a first bearing 30 to support a first end part 28 of the worm 24 of the decelerating mechanism 21. Consequently, it is possible to prevent generation of the tooth striking sound caused by backlash. Additionally, it is possible to remarkably reduce the labor for the assembly work because fitting the cover member 39 on the opening part 35 is enough. Furthermore, its structure is simple, the number of parts is small, no conventional strict matching work is required and it is possible to remarkably reduce manufacturing cost.
