Analyses full frame from RGB signal (22), horizontal synchronization signal (23) or vertical synchronization signal (24), to detect white areas above predetermined surface area, and if image integral brightness and/or maximum brightness value agrees with predetermined value. Image analyzer (34) outputs to sustain pulse limiter (32) to reduce number of sustain pulse per time interval or subfield of full image. Frame is input to pulse width modulator (10) and shown on display with sustain pulse correction.
