PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a switching device which is hard to return in the re-closing direction immediately after opening at electromagnetic repellence drive. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a cutoff part 1a composed of a vacuum valve 5 having a pair of electrodes 3, 4 in free connection and disconnection, a first electromagnetic repellence driving part 1e coupled with this cutoff part 1a, a wipe spring part 1c to house a wipe spring 15 which is coupled with the first electromagnetic repellence drive part 1e and which adds contact load in closing between electrodes 3, 4 of the cutoff part 1a, a second electromagnetic repellence drive part 1f coupled with this wipe spring part 1c, and an operation mechanism part 1d which is coupled to the second electromagnetic repellence driving part 1f and which opens and closes the cutoff part 1a, the wipe spring 15 is moved by simultaneous drive of the first and second electromagnetic repellence driving parts 1e, 1f and the operation mechanism part 1d, and opening is made between the pair of electrodes 3, 4 of the cutoff part 1a.
