PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the increase of the drive voltage while obtaining contrast improvement equal to or more than a thicker (polymer/liquid crystal) composite film that is simply thickened by making a (polymer/liquid crystal) composite film display unit in a dual structure. SOLUTION: The (polymer/liquid crystal) composite film display unit installs a transparent electrode, to face a substrate with a transparent electrode of one face in both sides, by centering the substrate with the transparent electrode in both faces, and sandwiches the (polymer/liquid crystal) composite film in between the substrates with the transparent electrodes.
