PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an abnormality detection device for ground and abnormality detection method by which precursors of falling stone and landslide are detected highly precisely, economically and without being affected by temperature variation and environment of geographical features. SOLUTION: Binder 5 mixed with a magnetic material 4 is deposited in the ground 1 of which the abnormality is to be detected, and the deposition surface is covered with a sheet of magnetic field sensor 3 in which a magnetism detection element 6 is embedded. The variation of magnetic field due to distortion of the detection ground surface is detected with the sheet of magnetic field sensor, and by comparing it with normal magnetic field distribution and processing, abnormality of the ground is detected.
