COLOR CONVERSION DEVICE USING ALL COLOR GAMUTS CAPABLE OF BEING EXPRESSED IN AN MPD AND A METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: A color conversion device and a method therefor are provided to use all color gamuts capable of being expressed in an MPD(Multi-Primary Display) by converting an inputted color signal so that a color gamut of the MPD is matched with a color gamut of an inputted reference color signal. CONSTITUTION: A WYV color signal converting unit(110) converts an input color signal into a WYV color signal, and outputs the WYV color signal. A color gamut matching gain calculating unit including a 2D-LUT(Look-Up Table) memory(130), an address converting unit(120) and an interpolation unit(140) calculates a matching gain for matching a color gamut of a target MPD with a color gamut of the input color signal. A color gamut matching unit(150) converts the WYV color signal on the basis of the matching gain. An XYZ color signal converting unit(160) converts the converted WYV color signal into an XYZ color signal, and outputs the XYZ color signal. An MPD control vector calculating unit(170) calculates a control vector of the target MPD corresponding to the XYZ color signal.
