In a drum dyeing machine, the interior dividing walls (4) and the drum (2) mantle are of unperforated materials. The drum walls have narrow perforated or punched zones (5) for a dyestuff outflow, at least at one side near the dividing wall junctions, or on both sides and parallel to the dividing wall junctions. The drum dyeing machine has perforated zones with a width which is less than one-third of the drum diameter, and preferably less than one-sixth. The perforated zone is pitched radially inwards at an angle to the drum axis, to form an obtuse angle between the lie of the perforated zone and the adjacent drum mantle, and transits at an obtuse angle into the dividing wall. Each perforated zone is formed by a trough or bead projecting radially inwards, parallel to the drum axis, with a dividing wall at each. The transit between the dividing wall in the perforated zone and into the drum mantle is through radii without sharp edges.
