An autonomic management method and system with category-based correlations

The method involves publishing rules by an authority, where each rule defines a state for a category and includes formal parameter to define a correlation with further category. The formal parameter included in a retrieved rule is resolved by associating each further category with a subject belonging to the further category. The retrieved rule is applied to configure the subject based on a desired state. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a computer program directly loadable into a working memory of a data processing system to perform autonomic management method in the system (b) a data processing system.
