The control has a touchpad control (75) in the shape of an arc. The arc is divided into two regions of control at a centerline (76) of the arc. The arc regions are associated with corresponding set of functionalities. The set of functionalities are opposite to each other. The touchpad control receives input in one of the regions based on the distance between the finger and the center line. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a portable media player with a remote control (b) a method for interacting with a user interface control including a touchpad control in the shape of an arc (c) a computer readable medium including instructions that when executed provide control support to a touch pad.
