METHOD FOR RECYCLING CONVERTER DUST TO ROTARY HEARTH REDUCING FURNACE

A method for recycling a converter dust to a rotary hearth reducing furnace, which comprises collecting a converter dust by a non-combustion type dust collector as a thickener precipitate, subjecting the dust to a pre-treatment of only slurry concentration or dewatering, mixing the product with a powder containing iron oxides and a powder containing carbon, adjusting the water content of the resulting product to 17 to 27 mass %, producing moldings having a porosity of 40 to 54 %, and reducing the moldings in a rotary hearth reducing furnace, or which comprises adjusting the above converter dust so as to have a water content of 5 to 16 mass % and a metallic iron content of 8 to 35 mass %, mixing the product with a powder containing iron oxides and a powder containing carbon, producing moldings from the mixture, and reducing the moldings in a rotary hearth reducing furnace. The method allows the reduction and the removal of zinc in a rotary hearth reducing furnace of a fine particulate dust collected from a converter gas, with good efficiency, and the recycling of the dust.
