<p>1,090,929. Endless tape cassettes. COUSINO ELECTRONICS CORPORATION. Oct. 15, 1965 [Dec. 18, 1964], No. 43830/65. Heading G5R. A cassette in which a disc 38 supports the majority of a magnetic sound tape in a coil in the manner of Specification 793,521 has the following detail improvements:- (a) The tape portion 55 is arranged for feeding and playing in a plane parallel to the disc 38, saving cassette height by entrainment of the tape over guides 32, 33, Fig. 3. (b) Guides 27, 28 transfer the return tape portion 56, Fig. 3, to a position 57, advanced relative to the tape feed-out point 53, encouraging a gap 58 in the tape coil, which eases feed-out at 53. (c) When not in a playing machine, tape 57, Fig. 5 is nipped between the disc 38 and ribs 69 on the cassette lid while the disc is held against rotation by teeth 48, 49 on the disc 38 and on a member 34 raised by a spring 41. A member 70, Fig. 7, on the playing machine, depresses the member 34 when the cassette is loaded to release the tape. The cassette is loaded into a slot 76, Fig. 7, and latched by means 79, 80 and a blade-spring 92. It is tilted as shown to clear the means 79, 80 to remove it. The pinch roller 18 may be engaged by hand or automatically by solenoid. The head (Figs. 12-14, not shown) may be slidable to play any of four alternative tracks.</p> |
