Treatment of inflammatory diseases associated with neutrophil or eosinophil granulocyt inflitration with EPO optionally with alpha-MSH

EPO or an EPO equivalent optionally in combination with alpha-MSH (melancortin stimulating hormone) or an alpha-MSH equivalent are used in the manufacture of a medicament for treatment or prevention of an inflammatory condition under non-ischemic conditions in airways and lungs or in the kidneys or in the urinary tract. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising a unit dosage of EPO and a unit dosage of alpha-MSH together with a suitable pharmaceutical carrier, in which the alpha-MSH is present in an amount which enhances the effect of EPO.
