An isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding a nitrilase enzyme preferably isolated from Acidovorax; and a microorganism selected from Comamonas, Corynebacterium, Brevibacterium, Rhodococcus, Azobacter, Citrobacter, Enterobacter, Clostridium, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Lactobacillus, Aspergillus, Saccharomyces, Zygosaccharomyces. Pichia, Kluyveromyces, Candida, Hansenula, Dunaliella, Debaryomyces, Mucor, Torulopsis, Methylobacteria, Bacillus, Escherichia, Psuedomonas, Rhizobium and Streptomyces transformed with the nucleic acid; and a method for obtaining the nucleic acid comprising probing a genomic library, identifying a clone that hybridizes with the probe, and sequencing the clone. |
