The device has two layers of package material integrated by a welding unit. A light source (51) reflects light on a welded joint of a package to be controlled. An analyzing unit analyzes a portion of the corresponding reflected light to detect the eventual presence of intrusions of the welded joint. The analyzing unit holds images of the package. An independent claim is also included for a process of detecting the intrusion of a welded joint.
