Disclosed is the use of a viral expression construct comprising a promoter functional in eukaryotic cells and a polynucleotide encoding a functional p53 polypeptide, wherein the polynucleotide is positioned sense to and under the control of the promoter, in the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting microscopic residual tumour cell growth in the tumour bed of a resected tumour in a mammalian subject.
