PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occcurrence of sewing defects. SOLUTION: The button sewing machine is provided with thread drawing devices 40 and 50 for delivering a sewing thread from a thread supply source on the upstream side of a sewing needle 11, a cutting means 13 for cutting the sewing thread after sewing below the sewing needle 11, and a thread removal mechanism 70 capable of switching between the holding of the sewing thread after cutting and the release of the thread. The thread removal mechanism 70 imparts tension in the direction of separating from the sewing needle 11 to the sewing thread at the time of holding the thread. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
