<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filling material to a cartilage defect section or a cartilage injury section, wherein culture operation is simplified and costs for culture is reduced by having an action on differentiating a cartilage cell, an undifferentiated mesenchymal cell, or the like, into a cartilage cell and maintaining it. <P>SOLUTION: This filling material to the cartilage defect section or the cartilage injury section consists of a composition having a Ca/P mol ratio of 1.40 to 1.67, and containing a calcium phosphate compound as a main component which has a specific surface area of 0.05 to 50 m<SP>2</SP>/g. It is preferable that the calcium phosphate compound contains either or both of the cartilage cell and the undifferentiated mesenchymal cell.
