PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring and evaluating the shape of a pipeline capable of measuring the linear shape of the pipeline through the use of an inspection pig traveling through the piping of the pipeline, and appropriately evaluating the underlaid state of the pipeline on the basis of the results of the measurement. SOLUTION: On the basis of output of distance measuring means 5 to 10 and 11 to 16 installed in the outer circumference of a pig body 2, deviations between the center axis of the pig body 2 and the center axis of the pipeline are computed to correct errors caused by the attitude of the pig body 2, and junctions between pipes constituting the pipeline are detected to measure the linear shape of each pipe. The underlaid state is evaluated also in consideration of unconformity of the junction parts between the pipes of the pipeline on the basis of the results of the measurement.
