The propulsion gas (2) is actively sucked out from the cavity (1), through a ventilation opening (3), by means of a gaseous suction and/or conveying flow (6). At least one pyrotechnic gas generator (5) is used to produce the gaseous suction and/or conveying flow. A sensor-controlled crash electronic unit activates the gas generator. An independent claim is also included for a device to carry out the method.
