PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately judge that an opposite party makes a response to a call without depending on a peripheral environment in a telephone terminal. SOLUTION: In a main device 1, parameter information showing the illumination pattern of a back light illuminating display units in respective extension terminals 2 is made to correspond to a processing situation of an outgoing call, and they are previously registered in an illumination pattern table 151. When the transmission operation of the outgoing call is performed in the extension terminal 2-1, the processing situation of the outgoing call is monitored in a processing situation detector 141 of a control unit 14. When it is in the middle of calling, a parameter information transmitter 142 reads parameter information corresponding to "in the middle of ringing" from the illumination pattern table 151, and is transmitted to the extension terminal 2-1 being a calling source. When a calling opposite part makes a response from "in the middle of calling", parameter information corresponding to the response is read from the illumination pattern table 151 and is transmitted to the extension terminal 2-1 of the calling source.
