A balance training apparatus 10 having a main body 18, a support formation 31 depending from the main body 18 for engagement with a support surface, a footrest 22 and handle 20 mounted to the main body 18 for supporting a user leaning forwards. The handle 20 is located forwardly of the footrest 22, in use, and at least one balance formation 24 depends from the main body 18 for engagement with the support surface forwardly of the engagement between the support formation 31 and the support surface. The apparatus 10 is moveable by the user between a first configuration in which the apparatus 10 and the user are supported on a support surface by at least the support formation 31 and the at least one balance formation 24, and a second configuration in which the apparatus 10 and the user are supported on the support surface by at least the at least one balance formation 24. The at least one balance formation 24 is in contact with a portion of the support surface that is located in a horizontal position between the footrest 22 and the handle 20 of the apparatus 10 in the first configuration. The apparatus 10 has a limited degree of stability in at least one plane, in at least the second configuration, which requires a user to actively balance themselves and the apparatus 10, in use, to maintain the apparatus 10 in the second configuration. The apparatus is particularly useful for improving the balance necessary for riding a bicycle. |
