The present invention is directed to anti-human IP-10 antibodies or antigen-binding fragments of these antibodies, including humanized antibodies anti-human IP-10 antibodies or antigen-binding fragments of these antibodies. The present invention is also directed to a method of reducing severity of at least one symptom of an inflamatory bowel disease in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of an antagonist of IP-10. The present invention is also directed to a method of diagnosing an inflammatory bowel disease in a patient comprising detecting the elevated serum level of IP-10 in the patient as compared to that of a healthy subject.
