PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-speed generation and adjustment of multi-level and multi-frequency half tone screens in order to improve printer performance. SOLUTION: A screen is mainly oriented to a laser printer. The method and algorithm are generally configured to select a plurality of points along a virtual line having a path extending along a surface in a geometrical shape, thereby generating a point lattice, allocates a dot shape to the individual lattice points, select a growth model with respect to the individual dot shapes, quantize the dots allocated to the lattice points and a specific grid of pixels, and generate a multi-frequency screen from the point lattice and allocated dots.
