<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary apparatus for driving an opening/closing body, which can facilitate a manual closing operation. <P>SOLUTION: This auxiliary apparatus 1a for driving the opening/closing body, which is mounted on a vehicle, is equipped with a motor 7 for driving a side door 101, an open-state detector 2 for detecting an open state of the side door 101, a ride detector 3 for detecting an occupant in the vehicle, and a drive control device 6 which keeps the side door 101 in the open state and which controls the drive of the side door 101 so as to drive the side door 101 to a preset target degree of opening, when the ride detector 3 detects the occupant and when the open-state detector 2 detects the open state of the side door 101.
