PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dry a structural material capable of hardly obtaining a sufficiently dried material while suppressing the occurrence of a crack or warpage. SOLUTION: A heat supply chamber 12 demarcated by a fire cutting-off plate 11 is formed on one end side of a drying furnace 1 having a heat-resistant heat insulating structure and a drying clamber 13 is formed on the other side of the drying furnace 1. A burner part 14 and the suction port 152 of a duct mechanism equipped with a blower are provided to the wall surface of the heat supply chamber 12 and the discharge ports 154 of the duct mechanism are provided to the left and right wall surfaces of the drying chamber at a predetermined zigzag interval and water sprinkling parts 131 for discharging water in a mist form are provided in the drying chamber. An exhaust port 133 with a damper for discharging air in the drying chamber to the outside is provided to the drying furnace 1. After moisture is allowed to appropriately penetrate in wood by sprinkling water to the surface of the wood, high temperature air is supplied into the furnace to heat and dry the wood for a predetermined time.
