PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor which has excellent stability at high temperature and which can impregnate electrolyte in a short time. SOLUTION: A solution containing at least one type selected from the group consisting of pyridinium salt, imidazolium salt and trimethylhexyl ammonium salt and having a viscosity coefficient at 25°C regulated to 0.1 Pa s or less by adding normal temperature molten salt of 0.1 Pa s or an organic solvent to the normal temperature molten salt is used as the electrolyte. The impregnating time of the electrolyte to a capacitor element is shortened by lowering the viscosity coefficient. The productivity of the electric double layer capacitor is improved. The high stability of the electric double layer capacitor can be ensured by utilizing the low volatility of the normal temperature molten salt. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
