摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric material that is reduced in the fluctuation of specific resistance (ρ) and is high in yield. SOLUTION: An ingot is formed by using a raw material having a composition composed of at least one element selected out of a group composed of Bi and Sb and at least one element selected out of a group composed of Te and Se. Then the ingot is pulverized into powder by means of a ball mill etc., and the powder is classified into different particle sizes. Then a tentative sintered compact 12a is obtained by inserting the powder having particle sizes which fall within a suitable particle size range into a prism-like mold in a laminated state and hot-pressing the powder by applying a pressure in the axial direction while the side face of the powder is restricted in a heated hot state. Then the tentative sintered compact 12a is disposed in a mold 13, and the thermoelectric material 12 is obtained by pressing the sintered compact 12a by moving the top 13a of the mold 13 downward after the mold 13 is heated in an insert gas, such as Ar, etc. In this case, the coefficient of friction of the top surface of the bottom 13b of the mold 13 is made lower than that of the bottom surface of the top 13a.
